Description : Hamsa Vol 2: Arabic Percussion is a mystical world of oriental percussion and grooves from the far reaches of the Middle East, North Africa and Arabic musical traditions.
Renowned for its rhythmic complexity and rich variety, the Middle Eastern percussive tradition has many hand drums that form the backbone of the practice. The kit includes Dumbek, a goblet-shaped instrument with a deep resonant sound, Darbuka, which is considered a modern variation of Dumbek, and Rik, a frame drum with five sets of cymbals, usually covered with goat or fish skin. These rare esoteric loops and samples will add a mystical touch to any music.
The pack offers producers a wide range of hypnotic grooves and offbeat rhythmic patterns to choose from, crossing a range of traditional styles. See what’s on offer:
Malfouf: Originating in Egypt and Lebanon, this fast rhythm is often used as an introduction to classical orchestral compositions of the genre, especially suitable for use in belly dancing.
Chiftetelli : This hypnotic rhythm is often used for sensual movements of the dancer’s abdomen, undulating torso, movements on the floor, or when the dancer makes snake-like movements with her arms.
Beledi : A rhythmic style that emphasizes folkloric origins, derived from the Maksum rhythm, the most common belly dance rhythm in Arabic music.
Karachi : Originating in Pakistan, this fast rhythm is commonly found in contemporary Egyptian and North African music.
