The Soundtoys Effect Rack is the centerpiece of Soundtoys 5.
It transforms a time-tested collection of powerful, standalone plug-ins
into a virtually limitless creative multi-effects system.
The Effect Rack makes it easy to build custom effects chains and craft your own signature sound.
Once you’ve created the perfect combination of effects,
the Rack’s global controls allow you to use the entire setup as a single plug-in.
Sync rhythmic effects to a common tempo, or let them run in free-running mode.
Fine-tune input and output levels, and use the global mix control
to blend your effect with the dry signal. Then, experiment with the powerful global feedback (recirculation) control. By blending the rack’s output signals with its input signals, you can create your own modulated reverbs,
extreme delays, and other unique ambient effects—
the kind that would typically require complex routing in most DAWs. Work smarter.
Effect Rack combines multiple Soundtoys effects into a single plug-in, streamlining your workflow
by letting you easily configure an entire custom effects chain
without having to switch between different windows. You no longer need to juggle multiple plug-in windows
to adjust parameters, add new effects, or change their routing.
With the Effect Rack, everything you need is right at your fingertips. Open the Tweak panel
to access specialized, circuit-level controls,
or build your own unique modulation schemes.
Many Soundtoys effects feature dedicated Tweak panels
that offer deeper editing capabilities. Here, you’ll find additional options—
such as selecting saturation styles, fine-tuning an effect’s groove, or choosing between different delay algorithms.
Our modulation effects include powerful shape and rhythm editors for crafting complex movement.
In Soundtoys 5, we’ve redesigned our Tweak panels to make these advanced controls easier to find and use.
The result is an incredibly customizable suite of sonic tools that you’ll want to use in every project. Effects that move in sync with your rhythm—
in any shape you can imagine.
At the heart of every modulation effect lies an LFO (Low-Frequency Oscillator)—
the component that gives tremolos, phasers, panners, and sweeping filters their signature motion. Our included library of LFO shapes goes far beyond standard modulation effects,
offering curves based on vintage modulation gear, amplifiers, and instruments,
as well as more abstract shapes. You can also draw and sculpt your own
fully customized shapes using our shape editor. Use it to create new LFO shapes,
ranging from sharp, angular waves to smooth, flowing curves.
Our rhythm editor functions like a rhythmic modulation sequencer. Choose the length (in bars) and the step size
you wish to edit (sixteenth notes, eighth notes, quarter notes, etc.), then start clicking
to create a new pattern. You can toggle individual steps on or off to create pauses or breaks,
and adjust the level and duration of each step to add character
and musical variation to your rhythm. You can even define the number of beats per bar
to craft funky syncopations or rhythms characteristic of odd time signatures. Just like our custom shapes,
these custom patterns can even be shared between different plug-ins.
