Description:
From bright, rich Americana tones to bold, powerful, and gritty crunch tones, this little 10-watt amp packs a punch.
This small amp easily produces some of the most distinctive and deliciously aggressive distorted tones around. When mic’d, it sounds much more powerful than its size suggests, with a character built for alternative rock riffs.
It’s a bit brighter and better suited to humbuckers out of the box, but single-coil guitars will sound great with a little tone reduction.
Crestline-era Gibsons aren’t as sought-after as earlier models. This is largely due to minor circuit changes that resulted in a very bright sound, as well as the speakers Gibson used during this period, which further exacerbated these issues.
With minor tweaks/modifications, these amps can sound great, but even in stock form, they record beautifully with appropriate microphones and mic technique.
The set includes 25 complete recordings made through the built-in 10-inch Gibson speaker, using two Royer R121, Beyerdynamic M160, and Neumann U87 microphones.
