List of changes
1. Plug-ins and virtual instruments
1.1 Vocal Tune
The new built-in Vocal Tune plug-in provides real-time pitch correction, specifically designed for vocals. It
offers a wide sonic range—from natural, transparent pitch correction to iconic, carefully
processed sounds popularized by various artists—with included formant shifting for an even
wider palette of creative effects.
1.2 CV Instrument Modulators
The updated CV instrument in Fender Studio Pro 8.1 adds four modulation sources that can be used as
LFOs or ADSR envelope generators. Each of the four modules has its own CV output with
a configurable range.
The LFOs provide sine, triangle, sawtooth, square, and arbitrary waveforms, as well as
a convenient sync function for synchronizing the LFO speed to the session tempo. ADSR envelopes
provide control over attack, decay, sustain, and release values, as well as configurable curve shapes for
all three time parameters.
The CV instrument is located in the Fender Instruments folder under the Browser > Instruments tab. To get
the most out of the updated CV instrument, your audio interface must provide at least six unused
DC-coupled audio outputs.
1.3 Shared Virtual Instruments
Fender Studio Pro 8.1 introduces shared instruments, eliminating the need to reload virtual
instruments for each new session, even if the same instruments are used repeatedly.
Simply drag instruments to a dedicated shared space on the Instrument Rack, then save
them as an Instrument Set for instant access in all new and existing sessions.
Shared instruments and instrument sets are loaded into memory only once. Any
subsequent session will have immediate access to these instruments without using additional
memory resources.
Open the new “Shared Instruments” section on the mixer toolbar. Click the ”
Shared Instruments” button to open the section.
2. Arrangement and editing
2.1 Pitch Curves in Audio Events
One of the most frequently requested features is finally here: pitch curves for audio events.
By applying automation curves directly to audio events in the timeline, you can
quickly and accurately correct subtle intonation issues using the same familiar automation curve editing tools
you already know.
Pitch adjustments can be made on the fly, with semitone level adjustments and cent-precision
digital input.
With a ±2 octave range and multiple pitch bend modes, pitch curves are equally useful as
a creative tool, capable of creating striking, expressive effects that require no simple correction.
Right-click on any audio event and check the “Pitch Curves” box.
From there, you can show, hide, or deactivate pitch curves.
2.2 Audio-to-Note Enhancements
The AI-powered audio-to-note tools introduced in Fender Studio Pro 8.0 have been
significantly improved in 8.1.
• Extract Drums technology, originally focused on acoustic drums, now expands its support
for electronic drums to include analog drum machines.
• Extract Notes technology delivers improved low-frequency recognition and overall performance improvements across the
board.
2.3 Improved String Separation Performance
. Version 8.1 also significantly improved string separation. The updated engine provides
significantly faster processing with significantly reduced setup costs. As before, all
processing occurs offline and locally on the user’s computer—no content is ever downloaded.
To access individual files, right-click on the sound event and select the option from
the Audio submenu.
2.4 Audio Preview for the Chord Assistant.
The Chord Assistant, introduced in Fender Studio Pro 8, now supports audio preview. This
allows users to preview recommended chords as they add them to a chord track.
The preview is activated by selecting the “Preview Chords” option in the Chord Track Inspector.
Click on any chord in the chord track to open the recommendation panel.
2.5. Audio Variation Compensation
. Version 8.1 introduces audio variation compensation, allowing users to apply
millisecond offsets to articulations with inherently slow attacks, such as legato or soft fills,
ensuring they stay precisely on time. Note that events can then be distributed
quantitatively across the grid, while simultaneously preserving a natural sense of timing and a correct representation of the score. Attack
compensation values are stored directly in audio variation maps, allowing all
data to be neatly stored in one place.
In the Audio Variation setup window, select any variation, then enter the Attack
Compensation value in the Audio Variation inspector. Alternatively, enter values in the Audio Variation list viewer.
2.6 [Score Editor] Combined Conditions in Sound Variations
Combinations of articulations/directions can now trigger a sound change. For example, you can
add a single variation that requires staccato chords and ponticello notes – once
three conditions are met, either in the Musical Symbols row or in the Score Editor, the variation is activated.
You can now assign multiple symbols in the “Musical Symbols” column of sound variations – you
can even add alternate symbols for the same variation by clicking the “+” button at the top of the
Symbol Selector.
Additionally, the new “normale” musical symbol allows you to cancel a condition – for example, use
“normale” to cancel “sul ponticello” while keeping the ‘consord’ active.
In the Sound Variations setup window, click anywhere in the score column in the list view. Select
one or more symbols to assign to the variation. Click the + button to add alternate articulations for
the same variation.
2.7 [Score Editor] Repeat Support
Repeats and other flow directions (such as DS and Coda) are now supported in the Score Editor
and reflected in the arrangement. This allows, for example, the creation of single-page
table titles and printing them directly in Studio Pro. Repeated sections are indicated in the arrangement window by
a “ghost copy” and an asterisk next to the bar number when bars are displayed on the ruler.
Lyrics are also supported, with multiple verses in a repeat section automatically
“expanding” when viewed in a linear lyrics track.
Scores with repeats or flow directions are also supported, sending directly to the Fender Notion application.
In score view, select repeats or flow symbols in the Symbols palette. Click anywhere
inside the score to assign.
If you add, for example, DS or Coda, you will need to add all the necessary symbols to
your score before updating the arrangement and timeline.
2.8 [Score Editor] Additional Editing and Playback Features
Global elements such as time and key signatures, as well as tempo, can now be edited directly from the
Score Editor application. Tempo markings (such as rit. and accel.) are also synchronized with the tempo track.
Chord symbols can also be entered directly via the Score Editor and synchronized with the global chord
track – in addition, chord diagrams (e.g., for guitar) can be viewed individually.
The new “Dimension Limit” feature allows you to set the maximum number of dimensions for each system, which is useful,
for example, for applying 4 dimensions for each system in the score table.
Other new features available in the Score Editor include grace & ghost notes, text fields, a beam
instrument, more bars, cross-stringing for piano, and diagrams for harp, which
even affect glissando playback. New symbols include jazz articulations, ornaments, and text
devices for strings and guitar.
In Score View, find all new symbols in the Symbols Palette. Click on a chord in
the Score Editor to view the diagram options.
2.9 Transport Strip Alignment Option:
The original transport strip alignment option, which was removed in Fender Studio
Pro 8, has been added back in version 8.1. Users with dual monitors who choose
to expand the main application window across both monitors can now change
the alignment of the transport controls from centered (the default) to left-aligned or right-aligned.
Right-click anywhere in the transport controls to access this option.
3. Browser
3.1 Moises Integration
Moises’ three creative tools for stem generation, stem splitting, and voice transformation are now
available directly in the browser, eliminating the need for complex file transfers and
offering the same drag-and-drop and right-click functionality familiar to Studio Pro users.
Stem Generation allows singers and songwriters to create backing tracks directly from their
original recordings with stunning accuracy. Users can choose from a variety of instruments and
musical genres. AI-powered tracks are automatically added to the timeline for further editing
and mixing.
String Splitting provides high-quality separation of drums, bass, vocals, and more—
additional strings and HiFi quality are available when upgrading to the Moises Pro system.
Voice Transformation allows users to transform their existing vocal recordings into professional-sounding
vocals, applying a wide range of female and male voice models. This is the ideal way
to replace demo vocals with more polished alternatives or create richer and more colorful backing
vocals if the original parts were recorded by the same singer.
The Moises browser plugin is supplied as a separate installation (Studio Pro extension), is included in
the recommended installation package and can be installed or removed manually at
any time.
3.2 Customizable Tab Arrangement
In Fender Studio Pro 8, we added the ability to show or hide individual browser tabs. In
version 8.1, users can reorder tabs by simply dragging them into any desired order.
The show/hide status and sort order of browser tabs are saved in the preferences and
organized into presets for easy access. This is especially useful when frequently switching
between small mobile and large desktop displays.
Tabs can be clicked and dragged in the browser in any order (which is saved globally). The “Home” tab, however,
can’t be changed.
3.3 Updated Home Tab.
As part of the browser updates in this release, the style and design of the browser’s Home tab
have been updated and redesigned to be more consistent with the overall look of the app.
Functionally, the Home tab remains unchanged, displaying which tabs are currently available within the app.
Clicking on any element of the Home tab will take you directly to the corresponding tab.
3.4 Improved Tab View:
To allow access to more tabs within the browser, tabs can now be collapsed, allowing you to display more tabs
without having to access the pop-up menu (which lists all currently invisible tabs). The new
design displays only the currently selected tab, while other tabs are displayed
collapsed and with small icons.
4. Displaying pages
4.1 Channel Overview The
Channel Overview, introduced in Fender Studio Pro 8, is now also available on the
View page. In View mode, just like on the Session page, the Channel Overview displays insert effects on
the currently selected player channel in a compact view that can be customized for any third-party
plug-in.
On the Show page, find the Channel Overview button in the Transition panel. Click it to open it.
5. General information
5.1 Studio Assistant
The new built-in Studio Assistant in Fender Studio Pro 8.1 eliminates the need to switch between
apps by placing answers and recommendations directly next to the feature they pertain to. And
because the program draws on an extensive knowledge base, it can answer all questions—from “how do I use this
feature?” to “how can I improve the sound of my mix?”—making Fender Studio Pro feel less like
a learning tool and more like a creative partner.
Studio Assistant is accessible directly from the main toolbar or as a floating window and panel
docked to the right side of the app—launched via a toolbar button or keyboard shortcut. It
was developed by a dedicated master’s degree student, trained on the full range of our online documentation,
knowledge base, and training content. And it’s safe to use: no personal or creative data is shared
or used to train the AI models.
5.2 Dolby Atmos® Headphone Personalization
Version 8.1 enables Dolby headphone personalization in the built-in Dolby renderer, allowing
users to load a custom HRTF file directly into the renderer and apply it to a dedicated
headphone output channel for monitoring.
Powered by the Sonarworks soundID Tools application, Dolby headphone personalization
creates a custom HRTF (Head-Related Transfer Function) profile based on your individual
ear, head, and torso anatomy, replacing the generic, averaged HRTF
used by the standard Atmos renderer.
Since no one perceives spatial information the same way, a personalized HRTF significantly
improves the accuracy of the perception of direction, distance, and, most importantly, height in
headphones. This means that the spatial decisions you make in your mix reflect what is actually happening in
the session, rather than being a compromise between your hearing and someone else’s average.
The bottom line is improved mix translation: less compensation, less uncertainty, and
more confidence that what you hear in headphones will be preserved in loudspeakers
and consumer playback devices. As a bonus, this makes remote mixing in a home Atmos studio
truly reliable, without requiring access to a specially equipped room.
Dolby headphone personalization is available in the Dolby Renderer window menu. To add
a PHRTF profile, users must first create one using the Sonarworks soundID Tools application.
5.3 Easy Track Preset Updates
The track context menu now has an additional “Update Track Preset…” item. This allows
changes to a previously loaded track preset to be easily updated.
This can be a problem with multi-track track presets (but we have a solution).
• When updating, the selected track is checked against the tracks loaded from
the preset. If a different track is selected, a warning is displayed asking whether the new selection or
the original tracks should be kept. (To allow adding/removing tracks from/to a track
Preset mode)
• Factory settings cannot be updated (this will result in an automatic copy being created)
5.4 Improved “Basic FX Bypass” option
In the Export Mix window, the “Basic FX Bypass” option
has been replaced with a drop-down menu offering several options:
• No bypass function
• Bypass pre-inserts
• Bypass post-inserts •
Bypass all inerts
• Bypass inerts + Fader
This gives users more flexible control over how the audio mix will handle the main output
channel processing and – in a Dolby Atmos session – will be displayed in the selected
output speaker format.
5.5 Default Audio Mixdown Name:
When exporting a mixdown, the default filename for the mixdown is now
the session or mastering project name (instead of “Mixdown”). When the user deletes the pre-populated
document name, the filename defaults to “Mixdown.”
5.6 Improved middle-click behavior for 3-button mice
The middle button on a 3-button mouse now defaults to horizontal and vertical scrolling, instead
of opening the toolbar:
• Click + swipe left/right = scroll horizontally
• Click + swipe up/down = scroll vertically
• On ruler: click + swipe = limit panning to horizontal only (no zooming)
5.7 Improved drag-and-drop behavior for replacing audio events
When dragging a new audio file on top of an existing audio event in the timeline, several
options for replacing the event are available depending on the modifier keys used:
• Using Alt/Option: Replace only the target events (based on the selection)
• Using Alt/Option+Cmd: Replace all events using the same clip
To replace all events on a track (old behavior), first use “Select All on Track”, then drag the new
audio file.
5.8 Fender Motion Controller Support
Fender Studio Pro features custom integration with our new
plug-and-play Fender MOTION 16 and MOTION 32 tablet controllers and a full suite of recording, editing
, and mixing tools.

Known issues:
• Studio Pro 8.1 introduces a redesigned compressor. While
it looks and behaves the same from a user perspective, the underlying implementation has changed. Result:
o Opening an 8.1 session in 8.0.x containing a new compressor results in
the plug-in being unavailable/missing.
o 8.1 focuses on properly loading older material. Old sessions/presets from
previous versions are designed to load in 8.1, but the reverse process (loading new 8.1
Compressor instances in 8.0.x) is not supported.
