The Studio Bösendorfer Imperial virtual piano brings the distinctive Viennese sound of one of the world’s most revered concert grand pianos directly to your studio. Recorded in the controlled acoustic environment of our second studio, Silent Stage, this virtual instrument offers an intimate and highly flexible sound, ideal for a wide range of musical styles.
The recorded concert grand piano, a Bösendorfer Imperial 290-755, differs from our “Synchron Bösendorfer Imperial,” which was recorded on the large A-stage of the Vienna Synchron Stage. Featuring dedicated Silent Stage recording hardware, this studio version delivers a unique sonic character with maximum flexibility for placement in any acoustic environment.
High-precision technology for unparalleled realism
Using Bösendorfer’s advanced CEUS technology, based on solenoids mounted under each key, we captured even the most subtle key movements with exceptional precision. Every nuance of the instrument’s behavior is preserved, with up to 1,200 samples per key and up to 100 velocity sensitivity. Thanks to this comprehensive method, the Studio Bösendorfer Imperial delivers an incredibly dynamic and authentic sound, accurately capturing the responsiveness and richness of the original grand piano.
Flexible microphone placement for perfect tuning
To give you creative control over the sound, the Studio Bösendorfer Imperial was recorded from three different angles: close-miking for a direct, detailed sound; performer microphones that capture the pianist’s authentic perspective; and audience microphones, which add a natural ambience and sense of space. In the included Piano Player, these signals are available separately in the mixer, allowing you to seamlessly blend them and customize the piano sound to suit your project’s needs.
