Sober Rob began playing the viola at the age of eight. While his classical instruments have since been traded for Ableton and KRK gear, the compositional elements of his classical background still permeate his hyper-futuristic production style.
Rob’s music sounds like a malfunctioning machine attempting to process human thoughts—blending sporadic, distorted squeaks, glitchy synths, and rattling basslines with soaring, fluid melodies. His live sets are so high-energy and intense that no one in the audience would ever guess he’s sober. Whether he actually is or not—the world may never know.
Listening to Sober Rob feels like engaging in something you probably shouldn’t be doing. His unconventional compositions and unparalleled sound design are making waves in a scene that usually just chases the latest trends, giving his audience a sneak peek at what’s coming next before it even hits the mainstream. Through relentless experimentation and meticulous attention to detail, Sober Rob demonstrates just how limitless the possibilities for musical expression truly are.
