Description: This package was born from the Senegalese edition of Splice Sessions. Producer Iss 814 (born Ismail Talla) used some of the original material from those sessions recorded in Dakar last April to create his own sound. The resulting package amplifies the style he created called Dakar Trap, which combines West African rhythms with Western hip hop beats. In addition to a lot of brand new material, Ismaila has included some of his original beats in this pack.
Ismaila notes that many of Senegal’s traditional instruments are used in Western R&B and rap music today. He sees it as a festive way to continue and export the Senegalese tradition abroad. In this package you will find the sounds of these instruments, including tam-tam, ngondi, kora and balafon. These instruments reflect the sounds of nature, adding an element of grounding and connection to the music composed of them. Ismaila hopes to hear what you make with these sounds.
