The TK IMP MKII is one of the most coveted modern amps, and we can see why.
The amp is tuned for the American Blackface tonal style, but it has more midrange and a less harsh sound than these classic American amps. This is especially noticeable in crunch and drive, where this amp shines just as well as in its percussive and powerful clean tones, which are surprisingly good for a low-wattage amp with 6V6 tubes.
Both channels are very well tuned: the rhythm channel is a true Blackface-style sound machine, while the lead channel leans a bit more toward a Plexi/Tweed sound. It’s practically impossible to get this amp to sound perfect—it never becomes harsh, the tonal focus perfectly matches the guitar frequencies, there’s no boom, and the midrange distortion makes it incredibly enjoyable. One of our favorite amps, for sure. ATTENTION!
