Synchron FX Strings is a fantastic tool for creating entirely new sound worlds that are sure to inspire you. Packed with effects and highly creative, this collection takes you to the farthest reaches of string instrument possibilities. From spherical pads to rhythmic patterns, these soundscapes will allow you to become the master of your own cosmic symphony.

A sound engineer’s dream: this 50-instrument orchestra with a multitude of effect presets lets you create melodic and atonal patterns, as well as ethereal, spherical sounds as endless as your imagination, ready for use in any contemporary genre and style, including ambient, alternative, EDM, world music, and many more.

Ready to Explore

Synchron FX Strings was recorded on the historic Stage A of Synchron Stage Vienna with a large ensemble of classical virtuosos. But these two elements are the only traditional elements in this collection. The musicians were encouraged to experiment and push far beyond their usual capabilities. The result: a treasure trove of unusual sounds just waiting to be explored. You can easily create effects and custom soundscapes by holding down one or two keys, and add variety and change timbres by moving the preset controllers. While other products quickly reach their limits, your musical journey into previously unheard sound worlds is just beginning with Synchron FX Strings.

Ten Preset Categories

The presets are organized into ten categories. Using our preset controllers, you can adjust the “bow style” and “density” in real time, for example, to build tension by gradually blending from basic to more complex and dynamic variations of the same pattern.

Spherical textures (e.g., gently pulsating effects with aleatory rhythms and occasional bow changes)

Spherical chordal textures – based on the so-called “alpha chord” (see below for more details)

Character textures – piercing and screaming high strings and growling low strings, aleatory cluster effects with occasional pizzicato, dirty and aggressive sounds with strong bow pressure, ethereal “cosmic” sounds played behind the bridge, stepped, pulsating bow bounces on the strings, melodic ornaments in the Ionian scale

Glissandos – regular and fingered, available in regular, semitremolo, and ponticello bowing styles

Ascending passages and glissandos with high dynamics and exaggerated crescendos, with speed variations

Clusters – Clusters of short and long notes, as well as glissando clusters with speed variations.

Harmonic effects – “strange” sounds, for example, with slightly detuned harmonics or up and down glissandos.

Pizzicato effects – for example, random pizzicatos at different tempos or finger glissandos after pizzicatos.

Special pads – various “breathing” sounds, for example, from strings tuned a minor third lower.

Inspiring XFades – combinations with smooth transitions from different preset categories.
