Description : Over his long career, super producer and sound engineer, winner of multiple platinum awards David Bendeth has developed an amazing method of layering multiple reverbs on a channel or bus to create a multi-layered and detailed sound.
What happens when you take that workflow and wrap it around a custom reverb engine that delivers key reverb patches he’s handpicked and used on the classic recordings he’s known for?
You get DBVerb!
About the program :
DBVerb plays 12 of David’s favorite reverb patches.
The plugin also implements his signature approach to setting the perfect reverb: it uses four different reverbs in parallel, each with a separate fader, allowing you to quickly blend the contribution of each reverb into the overall response.
It’s fast and easy to use, allowing you to achieve the perfect reverb sound without spending hours scrolling through patches and parameters. It makes it easy to achieve great sound and virtually impossible to set anything up incorrectly.
Each reverb strip allows you to select one of three different reverb patches.
Solo and Cut controls on each band make it easy to audition individual sections without changing the balance.
The plugin also includes a post-reverb high-pass filter and a shelving EQ, as well as a master pre-delay control that allows you to increase or decrease the reverb’s pre-delay relative to David’s settings.
The built-in Wet/Dry control with gain compensation allows you to achieve the perfect blend of direct sound and reverb, or simply set the plugin to 100% Wet for use on a sub fader in your mix.
Finally, each reverb block has a length control that shortens the reverb tail for the corresponding reverb. This allows you to tone down the reverb as needed or even achieve a fantastic reverb gating effect without any distortion or level-dependent effects.
“DBVerb was originally supposed to be a single reverb. While we were working on it, the lights went out, and we decided to expand its capabilities so that it would benefit everyone: a multi-purpose reverb combo with four faders, based on my approach to reverb mixing.
I’ve had this combination stored on my console for years, and I thought it would be great to put it all in one place and have quick access to the settings I’ve used for my most popular recordings.
By combining these reverbs, you can implement a wide variety of recording and mixing ideas without spending hours learning multiple reverb options.
We’ve added EQ controls to make your workflow more flexible. These include a high shelf with three frequency options and a high-pass filter for cleaning up the low frequencies in the reverb tail.
We’ve also included a length control so you can fine-tune the reverb for your song, and if you turn it down, it will put any of the reverbs into strobe mode.
Working with Metric Halo and Make Believe on this plugin was a real adventure, as we continued to see the many options available. I believe this plugin is a real step forward, with many applications for your next production or mixing session.
I can’t wait to hear all your ideas as you create the great music of tomorrow!”
