Bold changes and subtle shifts
Beyond its ability to add subtle nuances to sound, Drifter is a versatile creative tool that lets you infuse your tracks with new character. From the subtle pitch imperfections of an old tape recording to a broader, more pronounced wobble that conveys the nostalgic feel of lo-fi recordings and vintage gear, Drifter quickly recreates the unique atmosphere of analog synths and worn vinyl. Increase the number of settings to create a sense of groove and transform predictable loops into pulsating platforms. Stack modulations: create smooth frequency shifts, add sharp saturation, and maximize harmonics. Drifter offers a full range of movements that sound deeply musical.
Central Intelligence Service
At the heart of Drifter is a central control element linked to a variety of parameters. This allows you to quickly and easily modify and shift the sound. Set the depth to control the degree of global modulation. Adjust the speed to set the tempo of the movement. Below these sliders are dedicated sliders that allow you to fine-tune the degree of modulation for each target, providing precise control over the sound’s transformation.
Naturally Creative
At the bottom of the interface are separate controls for adjusting the Natural and Creative parameters: Natural simulates the subtle vibrations of analog equipment, while Creative takes the sound to the next level by making more dramatic changes.
Natural: Level, Pan, Pitch, and Tone (EQ). These parameters are imbued with organic life, adding warmth and unpredictability to acoustic performances and analog circuits.
Creative: Phase (low-pass filter), Shift (frequency), Shape (harmonics), and Filter (high and low frequencies). This opens up more experimental possibilities, allowing for unusual processing and evolving mutations.
Visual feedback and comparison
Drifter, built using vector graphics, features a resizable interface. Dynamic metering and an informative central visualizer let you monitor your processing in real time. For those who enjoy experimenting, you can compare different processing chains using AB comparison and copy/paste. Use the undo/redo buttons to reverse any changes. Activate Automatic Gain Compensation (AGC) to maintain a stable volume level while modulating audio. This is ideal if you need controlled movement without sudden volume jumps.
