Description: An innovative new standard in orchestral library sampling that will greatly expand your existing orchestral palette to include a huge variety of completely unique textures. As an alternative to simply using simple long notes, this library relies on a point effect of multiple players playing short notes at random intervals to create a wave-like sound that can be executed in real time for impressive results. Taking the “Swarm” approach but adapted for orchestra, it gives access to even greater detail, using a huge variety of articulations and playing styles of orchestral instruments and will give your compositions a fluid dynamics that will dance next to the imagination. This library was created exclusively in collaboration with Bleeding Fingers and is featured in Blue Planet ii and Hans Zimmer/Radiohead in collaboration with “(ocean) bloom”.

New Orchestral Sound: This library is an innovative collaboration with Bleeding Fingers (Planet Earth II, Sons Of Liberty, Roman Empire: Reign Of Blood), who wanted to create this library for use in the BBC’s flagship series: Blue Planet II. Their concept was to record multiple players playing random short notes of the same pitch. The effect will be a granular “cloud” of notes – beautiful long sound textures created from layers of micro moments that will be used in place of more traditional long notes. We at Spitfire now know this approach well – it is the method we use for our Swarm libraries, and this opportunity has pushed us to conquer new territory – harnessing the power of the orchestra with this technique. We quickly delivered the source library to the team at Bleeding Fingers to use exclusively for the show. Hans Zimmer and Radiohead even continued to use it as part of their “(ocean) bloom” collaboration. We then returned to the studio to record even more with the orchestra, including short notes and advanced techniques and layers, to create the most complete tool for media composers. This new textural approach to orchestral sampling will add life to your arrangements. Join the pioneers of modern concert music.

An Ocean of Possibilities: The library consists of various string, brass and woodwind ensembles, recorded individually and with Swarm’s pinpoint approach, using the most idiomatic techniques for these instruments. Many of these sounds have never been sampled before. We’ve used a wide range of techniques and combined them using the “Swarm” approach (where players each randomly play short notes to create a beautifully random cloud of sound) to give a greatly expanded sound palette to your existing orchestra. The included custom ensemble shots also expand your options by allowing you to add a rhythmic element to your work. Plus, the provided two reverbs on board—a hard “studio” sound and a longer-lasting “hall” sound—make blending with your orchestral libraries a breeze.
