Description:
Tape
Softube’s Tape stands out among tape machine emulations,
capable of reproducing a wide range of sonic flavors—from subtle tape character to rich, warm tones.
An analog tape machine smooths out the sound, adding weight and cohesion, transforming a collection of individual tracks into a unified
and compelling musical piece. Softube Tape uses component and physical modeling of three distinct
tape machines to deliver authentic vintage sound in a single plugin.
Simple and intuitive
Choose your favorite tape machine (A, B, or C) and adjust the Volume knob, or simply load one
of the presets to infuse your tracks with analog tape character. The plugin
is CPU-efficient. Use it on the master bus or add an instance to every track to achieve a retro sound.
Plenty of detail and texture without overloading your CPU.
Choose your flavor
Type A is based on a classic high-end Swiss reel-to-reel machine, renowned and loved for its precision and linearity.
Type B offers much more color; it is a transformer-based machine that adds extra weight and saturation to the low-end.
Finally, Type C is based on a British tape machine with a distinctively vintage sound.
Features
• Authentic analog tape sound
• Includes three tape machine types
• Easy to use
• Low CPU usage
• Wobble control for “wow and flutter” effects. [collapse]
Tape Echoes
The unique sound of tape echo can be heard on countless outstanding recordings from the last five decades.
Analog tape delays are expensive to acquire and maintain, yet many plug-in delays suffer from an undesirable sterility. Not Tape Echoes.
With Drive and Dirt functions, you can easily dial in unstable, glitchy, distorted delay effects.
And by setting a minimal delay time, you can achieve classic, old-school character.
Expertly Developed
Tape Echoes honors the legacy and spirit of Softube’s giant “Tape” plugin; through meticulous A/B testing and fine-tuning,
it sounds exactly like—or even better than—the original hardware that inspired it.
Tape Echoes’ exclusive Drive & Dirt features let you quickly and easily transition from gentle realism to extravagant saturation.
Drive controls the preamp and tape distortion, while Dirt parameters affect tape speed, wow,
flutter, dropouts, and frequency response.
Plug into Tape
The “Taps” control reflects the depth of classic tape delay hardware. By simulating the sound,
behavior, and timing of analog tape heads, it allows for easy switching between one, two, or three taps.
Feedback reinforces the taps, creating a natural analog effect.
Realism and Versatility
Tape Echoes delivers realistic analog delay and spring reverb that function exactly
like the hardware they are based on. Use the Delay Time fader to set the time of the first tap,
and adjust the other two on the fly. Place the reverb in parallel with or before the delay line to smoothly transition from an authentic,
clean analog sound to a distortion-saturated reverb.
Features
• A tape echo plug-in delivering the tape delay sounds you’ve always imagined
• High-quality Softube modeling of classic vintage tape delay hardware
• Drive & Dirt controls let you dial in anything from clean tones to heavy distortion—and everything in between
• Dry control for achieving sharp, old-school tape sounds
• Get that old-school dub sound with heavy distortion, tape wobble, and crushing feedback
• Easily create stunning sound effects with incredible audio quality
Harmonics
Have you ever tried to add character to a track using distortion, only to end up with a muddy, lifeless sound?
Harmonics preserves the dynamics of the original signal, allowing you to control distortion without worrying about unwanted side effects.
The Distortion Dilemma
Guitars, vocals, drums, bass, and even synths often need extra grit to stand out in a mix,
but distortion can sometimes compromise dynamics and create more problems than it solves. Too little distortion,
and the sound fails to stand out or fill the space; too much, and you lose detail and clarity.
Harmonics offers not just five expertly tuned analog distortion models, but a radically new approach
to dynamic processing during distortion……distortion. Harmonics analyzes the input signal and preserves sound dynamics and detail
even after heavy distortion.
Features
• Five unique, component-modeled distortion sounds
• Dynamic transient control technology
• Volume and Character controls to manage saturation level and timbre
• Wet/Dry mix control for parallel processing
• THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) meter for precise control over subtle saturation
Wasted Space
If you need an extreme, lo-fi style digital effect, Wasted Space is the answer.
Explore the trendy retro aliasing artifacts and push them to the limit. Apply Wasted Space directly to a track
to highlight specific elements, or achieve a lo-fi sound by applying it to the master bus.
With its retro-futuristic interface and essential features, Wasted Space is the perfect tool for innovative sound design.
Adjustable sample rate lets you quickly dial in the perfect lo-fi sound. Use the filter settings
to shape the distortion with slopes of 12, 24, and 48 dB/octave. With the filter off, the sound is maximally distorted,
while the 48 dB setting yields the smoothest result. A high-frequency slider allows you to reduce high-end distortion
while preserving distorted low frequencies, effectively eliminating the rumble often caused by low-end buildup. Features
• Deliberate enhancement of the aliasing artifacts found in early digital reverbs
• From the creators of TSAR-1 Reverb, TSAR-1R Reverb, Spring Reverb, Atlantis Dual Chambers, and more
• Variable sample rate and selectable aliasing filter types allow for quickly finding the perfect lo-fi effect
• High-pass filter to reduce low-end rumble
• Pre-delay and time sliders for easy adjustment of standard reverb parameters
• Wet/dry slider to find the perfect balance within the track
