How to install Kontakt 8 PORTABLE :
- Create an empty folder. The folder name and the path to it MUST NOT CONTAIN CYRILLIC CHARACTERS. The folder MUST HAVE WRITE PERMISSIONS (do not install into the “Program Files” directory).
- Run the installer (KontaktPortable_v8141.exe).
- Click the “Browse…” button and select the empty folder you created.
- Click the “Extract” button.
- Upon the first launch of the Library Manager, an automatic scan for factory content and previously installed libraries (via the Windows Registry) will be performed.
Once the scan is complete, you must save the changes and (re)start Kontakt.
If the changes were not saved during the first launch, you can trigger an automatic scan at any time by pressing the Alt + Insert key combination or by using the Library Manager’s context menu:
ADD > Quick Search
By default, libraries are added only to the classic browser (with the exception of factory content, which is not added to the classic browser). This behavior can be adjusted in the Library Manager settings:
Libraries > Manage libraries in NKS browser
How to update a previous version of Kontakt 8 PORTABLE :
- Run the installer: KontaktPortable_v8141.exe
- Click the “Browse…” button and select the folder containing the files from your previous Kontakt 8 PORTABLE installation.
- Click the “Extract” button.
- When the “Confirm file replace” window appears, confirm the replacement of files (select “Yes to All”).
Note for version 8.7.0: To automatically generate missing library images in the Kontakt browser (default view), launch the Library Manager, click the “SAVE” button, and restart Kontakt.
Notes for version 8.10.0:
– To add new factory content (Aftertouch Tool), launch the Library Manager, click the “SAVE” button, and restart Kontakt.
