The 606 is an analog drum machine from 1982, originally built to accompany the TB-303. Its sound is similar to the 808 (though perhaps more unique) and can be heard in early works by Plastikman, Aphex Twin, Autechre, and many others. However, we sampled a modified 606 that adds a massive bass boost to the original kick, transforming it into a monstrous, earth-shaking sound that sits somewhere between an 808 and a 909. We also included tuned low and high toms, saturated snares, uniquely metallic hi-hats, and gritty cymbals—sounds you won’t find in any other 606 sample pack. It sounds incredibly fresh!
