Description: The creator of The Bandoneon, film composer Guillermo Guareschi introduces an exciting new Kontakt library, designed to become a unique tool for composers and musicians. The Ronroco belongs to the charango family, a typical South American instrument. It is similar to the charango, but larger in size, with a deeper and warmer sound. He was brought to the international stage by two-time Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolalla. He uses ronroko in almost all of his projects, such as The Last of Us, Brokeback Mountain, Babel and Michael Mann’s The Insider, among others.
“As a film composer and producer, I created this instrument keeping in mind the needs of musicians and film composers. Almost an entire film can be scored with this instrument alone. That’s how strong he is.”
It’s more than just an instrument, it’s a creative workstation where you can compose and create original and realistic melodies and atmospheric landscapes.
There is something so unique about instruments like the ‘tres Cubano’. Haven’t heard of the ronroco yet, but I’ve been lovin’ the tres in the “Cuba” Kontakt library. A friend has a “cuatro”, which is four pairs of strings, I believe of Puerto Rican heritage.
In Playa del Carmen in Mexico I wandered into a luthier’s shop……. awesome acoustic guitars filled the place. I asked him how much I could get a tres for. He said, “you can make one for about $10……… any cheap acoustic guitar, get a nut and file it to make 3 sets of 2 strings”. Haven’t yet, but have been trying to use acoustic guitar samples, offsetting the samples to sound like pairs. Thanks, like to check this out.
