Six engines, one compressor
Built for the song, not the specs.
Most compressors offer one engine and one workflow. Orra Press offers six dynamics engines that can be loaded into any of the six slots, with the ability to reorder them—so the chain follows the song, not the other way around.
The Traditional Approach
Open one compressor to tweak the tone. Open another to adjust the volume. Open a third to limit. Switch between plugin windows. Get confused. Try to remember which knob you turned and why.
Each dynamics stage has its own plugin.
The Orra Way
Place the modules in the slots. Change the order using the arrows. Pair a fast FET with a slow optical FET and a transparent limiter—or three classic FETs in a row, each providing 2 dB of gain. Compare four layout options using A/B/C/D and release the one that wins.

Three sidechain modes per slot
Off. Default. The compressor is triggered by its own input signal—standard compression behavior.
External dedicated stereo bus. Host Sidechain. Regardless of which routes your DAW uses to determine the signal route—the classic action: ducking bass and drums.
Link 1–36: 36 sidechain channels fed by Orra Link. Apply Link to any track, select a channel, and that source becomes available to any Press card in the project.
Visualization in the Analyzer
When sidechain is active, the analyzer displays it. In the Oscilloscope tab, a thin red SC bar is added above the GR bar. In “Spectral Analysis” mode, the GR for each bin is replaced by the sidechain FFT, allowing you to precisely determine which frequencies in the sidechain contribute to the main signal. In “Multiband Spectrum” mode, each band is colored according to the current SC signal.
Multiband and Spectral-Aware
Multiband mode splits the sidechain through its own FIR crossover block, so that each band’s detector selects the corresponding SC band. Spectral performs a parallel FFT on the sidechain, meaning you can cut out spectral space in the main signal where the sidechain has energy. (The limiter, by design, ignores the sidechain—hard-edge limiters don’t use the sidechain.)
