The Panda 61 Piano is a vintage 61-key synthesizer created by the Italian electronics company Eko in the 1960s and early 70s. The Panda was marketed ostensibly as an electric piano, but the inner workings and warm tones are consistent with a classic early monophonic synthesizer, with basic waveforms designed to approximate very roughly the sound of an electronic piano, harpsichord, horns, strings, and wind.
We captured 7 main voices, with endless sustains and hard staccatos. We’ve also created 20 custom effects presets and 40 unique original sound patches, pads, drones and ambiances to give you a full range of creative options while keeping the essence of this humble sound pioneer.
We’ve provided the GUI with a lot of great audio controls that give you the flexibility to warp your audio in a variety of ways. You can control the volume, attack, release, time shift, vibrato and octave levels. The “Glide” control slider allows you to play with legato and portamento. You’ll also find an adaptable LFO system with selectable LFO shape, modulation target, speed, intensity, time sync.
You can also apply your choice of 13 low-pass, high-pass, and FX filters, with assignable modulation control options, including speed, modulation wheel, expression, aftertouch, key position, and step sequencer table control. You can also use our customizable arpeggiator with built-in sequencer velocity table and controls for direction, note time, shift, randomization and duration.
Eko Panda was recorded in the studio using a pair of Neumann TLM 103 large diaphragm microphones. We recorded his presets with sustain and staccato per key. The included FX rack gives you an easy-to-use interface that allows you to fully customize and shape your fat analog sound to suit a variety of creative styles.
