Once explored only in limited form, the DW Fearn VT-15 combines the musical EQ of the VT-5 and the transparent,
character-rich compression of the VT-7 into a single, cohesive design. Now available as a plug-in, it delivers
a complete tube processing chain that feels natural, responsive, and deeply musical.
In collaboration with DW Fearn, we modeled the complete signal path at the component level, encompassing all transformers,
tube stages, and the interaction between the EQ and compression. This isn’t just a combination of two processors; it’s a system
in which each stage amplifies the other.
One chain, endless possibilities. The true power of the VT-15 lies in its combination. Each stage is designed to be approached from different angles,
complementing the others while maintaining its own distinct character. Transform the tone into compression for a controlled,
finished sound, or reverse the playback order for a more dynamic, tone-forward result.
This level of flexibility surpasses traditional channel-based workflows.
Musical alignment, rethought. Based directly on the renowned VT-5, the EQ stage is built around aurally adjustable curves
that sculpt tone with precision and ease, expanding into a wide midrange. Low shelves add weight
without being overbearing, mid-height cutouts create space without constricting it, and high shelves create an airy environment,
giving it a sleek, polished look.
Tube compression that glues. The VT-7’s compression stage provides transparent control of musical dynamics with a character balance that adapts
to any source. It can remain subtle, adding coherence and grip, or be transformed into a more dynamic, harmonically rich sound.
A harder/softer control transforms the sound from smooth and refined to bold and assertive.
Designed for modern workflows. Exclusive features available only in the plug-ins expand the VT-15’s capabilities for modern workflows.
Global wet/dry mixing controls enable parallel processing, pre- and post-filtering
provide flexibility in tone shaping, and 8x oversampling ensures impeccable audio quality throughout the entire chain.
