Description:
apVerb is an audio plugin designed to create algorithmic reverb with exceptional smoothness and flexibility. The plugin generates reverb using thousands of delay lines spaced at semi-random intervals—a technique inspired by a recently invented type of noise known as “velvet noise.”
Overview:
Carefully arranged delay lines deliver resonance-free reverb that can surpass traditional reverb algorithms in terms of smoothness, flexibility, and stereo width. These delay lines are processed via filters and effects to create a wide range of reverb types and innovative sound effects.
apVerb offers comprehensive control over numerous parameters over time, utilizing 23 curve-based, multi-segment envelopes. Beyond standard reverb types, this enables the creation of reverse reverb, reverb that loses density over time, reverb with expanding frequency ranges, delay-like effects, and more.
Additionally, apVerb can synchronize all envelopes and pre-delay times to the host tempo, allowing for the creation of rhythmic effects. It also features an early-reflection generator based on modeled virtual room geometry, along with three effects—chorus, phase distortion, and saturation—that can be applied to user-defined time or frequency regions of the reverb. The wet signal can be controlled by input dynamics using a “ducking” algorithm or by cutting off the reverb tail during attacks or transients. Key features include ultra-smooth reverb body modeling.
23 spline-based envelopes control volume, density, filters, effects, and stereo imaging parameters over the course of the reverb decay, using control points with adjustable weights.
Spectrogram visualization inspired by topographic maps.
Host tempo synchronization for all reverb envelopes and pre-delay times.
Three types of room early-reflection modeling.
The frequency section includes low-pass and high-pass filters with continuously variable pole counts, plus two parametric EQs; all filter parameters are envelope-controlled.
Time-modulated chorus, phase distortion, and saturation effects.
Dynamics section featuring ducking and tail-cutting based on input levels or transients.
Dry/wet mixer with an option to exclude the dry level from preset switching.
Unlimited undo/redo for all actions.
Plugin formats:
AudioUnits, AAX, VST, and VST3 for 64-bit macOS, Windows, and Linux. Built-in system-wide preset management with import and export capabilities for cross-platform and cross-host compatible preset files in a human-readable XML format.
Light and dark color schemes, as well as support for custom color schemes.
