Vienna, the city of music, is renowned worldwide for its distinctive string sound and overall musical excellence, but it is also renowned for its virtuoso choirs that fill the country’s legendary halls, from opera houses to churches. In Studio Vienna Choir, we have captured the essence of what makes these world-class voices so outstanding and sought-after.
This versatile and easy-to-use collection showcases the remarkable talent of top-notch singers working together in perfect harmony. Fully customizable ensembles that can accommodate any acoustic environment also demonstrate the versatility that a group of virtuoso vocalists can bring to any musical or filmic context. This is a tribute to the human voice and its capabilities.
Reverberant Voices
The ensembles of sopranos, altos, tenors, and basses were recorded in our second studio, Silent Stage, a recording facility with dense, controlled acoustics, specifically designed and built for recording samples.
Using Synchron Player’s reverb and placement presets, you can place each ensemble in the ideal location in the large hall of our in-house Synchron Stage Vienna recording studio, with options such as close, classical, and distant placement. But these ensembles are much more flexible. By disabling Vienna Synchron Player’s internal convolution and algorithmic reverb, you can place the vocalists in any virtual acoustic environment, from dry closets to cathedrals. This collection is a dream for those seeking the perfect choir sound. Additionally, you’ll find a variety of effect presets in the Synchron Player mixer preset menu.
Expressiveness and Articulation
The ensemble’s excellence is also evident in the wide range of easy-to-use, yet impressively virtuosic articulations, which enhance the realism of working with this virtual choir in your DAW. Carefully balanced volume levels ensure smooth note transitions as you move from one articulation to another. Our decay sampling technology significantly increases the flexibility and usability of many articulations. Notes such as crescendos and diminuendos can be played with varying durations and always trigger the correct decay sounds. So, for example, you can use the first part of a crescendo note as a soft portato articulation, or the first part of a diminuendo note as an espresso technique with a slight decrescendo, which sounds very musical and natural.
Multi-layered ensembles
The Studio Vienna Choir collection includes patches for each individual ensemble, as well as multi-layered patches with a female choir, male choir, and full choir. If you have the Studio Soprano Choir installed, there’s a bonus patch that combines ensembles from both collections, creating a powerful group of 32 singers.
