Blondie is an American band, pioneers of new wave and punk rock. The group became famous after their album “Parallel Lines”, which was released in 1978. Songs from this album became international hits. In 1982, Blondie broke up, Deborah Harry, the vocalist, began a solo career. In 1997, the group reunited and is still playing.
History
The team was formed in August 1974 in New York and for the first four years were considered the star of the local rock underground. The composition of the participants changed until in 1977 it was consolidated in the format of a sextet. Significant commercial success first came in the UK, with the release of their third album, Parallel Lines (1978), for which the band was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Female Rock Vocal. However, the real bomb was the third single from the album, Heart of Glass, recorded in the style of radical disco. It topped the charts around the world and became one of the most striking melodies of the disco era. Two more chart-toppers followed – Sunday Girl and Atomic.
