Description : Eighty is a revolutionary synthesizer inspired by the legendary CS-80 and possessing unrivaled warmth and expressiveness.
It features three synthesis lines: two of which accurately reproduce the linked high- and low-pass filters that defined the CS-80’s iconic sound, while the third line is seamlessly blended via an innovative 2D mixer that expands the sonic possibilities.
With its rich analog sound, extensive modulation capabilities, and intuitive interface, The Eighty gives engineers, producers, and musicians the tools to create anything from lush pads and soaring leads to deep, textured soundscapes. A modern homage to a timeless classic.
Peculiarities :
Three synthesis lines, four effects, easy setup
Each synthesis line includes a single oscillator with a low-frequency generator, high-pass and low-pass filters with two envelopes.
An advanced 2D mixer with animation.
An advanced arpeggiator that can modulate a component depending on the current step.
Convenient access to vibrato, tremolo, after-touch polyphony, and velocity.
Four deep and warm effects with independent routing: delay, phaser, reverb, and EQ.
A ring modulator with a simple envelope.
Chorus for tremolo and vibrato, as well as ensemble effects.
Multiple modulation sources and destinations.
An advanced preset manager allows you to quickly find the perfect sound for your music.
Considered the forerunner of fully polyphonic synthesizers, the CS-80 features a wealth of performance controls, such as polyphonic aftertouch, key tracking sensors, and velocity, which can be applied to any of the synthesizer lines.
Renowned artists like Stevie Wonder and Vangelis were among the first to adopt the original unit, incorporating its distinctive tones into their music.
It faithfully recreates the instruments that shaped Blade Runner and countless other cultural landmarks.
Optimized for low CPU usage without sacrificing sound quality,
zero-latency filters eliminate common digital artifacts, delivering a truly analog sound.
The power and warmth of 12dB zero-latency analog resonant filters:
Each synthesis line features 12dB zero-latency analog high- and low-pass filters, powered by a uniquely designed envelope. Unlike traditional envelopes, this one doesn’t have a sustain control, instead offering an initial level and an attack level. The initial level determines the envelope’s starting point, while the attack level determines the peak it reaches after the attack phase.
The zero-latency design ensures the absence of high-frequency spectral distortion, a common problem with many digital filters. For example, when setting the cutoff frequency to 10kHz, only frequencies above 20kHz are attenuated by 12dB per octave, preserving the integrity of the high-frequency spectrum.
By avoiding oversampling, we preserve the pristine purity of the oscillators while maintaining efficient and conservative use of CPU resources.
Advanced Arpeggiator:
A new Advanced Arpeggiator has been integrated: in addition to the standard up-and-down chord note playback, this arpeggiator adds cyclic modulations and muting capabilities to create sparkling notes full of life.
An integrated preset manager in a single window: find the right patch in seconds, manage presets, sound banks, and create your own tags.
Over 500 presets created by brilliant sound designers
Nori Ubukata, Soundsdivine, Xenos, Status, Gab Lavoie, and others.
