Description:
XMLimiter 2 — the most transparent and loudest limiter for mastering
XMLimiter 2 is not a conventional look-ahead limiter. It does not rely on fixed parameters like attack and release times.
Instead, XMLimiter 2 monitors and analyzes the entire signal—moment by moment—much like a detective.
This granular, atomic-level monitoring allows us to achieve the ultimate goal: no sense of dynamic suppression, no narrowing of the stereo image, no blurring of transients, and no pumping—just transparent limiting.
That said, it is important to understand that certain reactions are inevitable, depending on the source material. For instance, solo instruments—such as a piano—may exhibit varying sonic characteristics. Similarly, while some 808s or sub-bass elements might process perfectly, others could introduce distortion; it entirely depends on the material itself.
However, feedback from the sound engineers who assisted during our beta-testing phase revealed a crucial insight: if you are using XMLimiter 2 as a final limiter on your master bus and encounter distortion at specific points when reaching your target loudness, the issue likely stems from your mixing stage.
In such cases, we recommend placing an equalizer just before XMLimiter 2 to perform the necessary tonal balancing. Of course, you are free to use it however you see fit—the choice is yours. The “OS” (Oversampling) button: By default, 16x oversampling is enabled. This exceptional filter type is one of our latest technological developments; we recommend keeping it active for mastering, though it can be disabled for individual tracks.
Inter-sample peak (ISP) protection remains active at this stage. However, “True Peak” (dBTP) is a different matter; we chose not to compromise signal transparency or increase CPU load for the sake of “True Peak” metering. FC Button
FC stands for “Final Ceiling.” Unless you are using sequential limiting, we recommend keeping this feature enabled; otherwise, peak values may exceed the intended range.
If you are using sequential limiting, disable this feature and allow XMLimiter 2 to perform its function within the intermediate signal chain.
It is also worth noting that the frequency-modulation stage is unique—developed specifically for XMLimiter 2—and is designed to capture transients (spikes).
LINK Button
The LINK button is located between the two controls. When enabled, it allows you to adjust the input and output controls simultaneously in opposite directions, helping to maintain a balanced overall level.
