Muted string ensembles, but with all the passion intact: This meticulously crafted collection of delicate sounds doesn’t simply put a mute on the bridge of our stringed instruments but offers an astonishingly rich plethora of nuances and tonal colors that can’t be achieved any other way. These strings might be muted, but their expressivity is certainly not toned down at all. This collection expands on the regular Studio Appassionata Strings Collection, adding an atmospheric touch to the tried and true lush string sound that is remarkably adaptable for various moods, genres and recording projects.
The Gentle Whisper of Strings
This collection stays true to the big Hollywood lushness of our regular Studio Appassionata Strings. Unlike many movie series however this is a sequel that’s actually on par with its predecessor and expands on its rich tonal palette. The ensembles of 20 first violins, 20 second violins, 14 violas, 12 cellos and 10 double basses were recorded in the relatively dry, controlled ambience of our Silent Stage. They exhibit a passionate and beautifully refined sound, masterfully performed with all the subtleties that are essential to create lively and organic string performances.
Expressivity Con Sordino
The deeply sampled con sordino articulations are clearly organized and color-coded within the Synchron Player, offering an intuitive overview and quick access to a wide range of playing techniques. Special articulations such as slurred and portamento legatos, “finding tune” and fast arpeggios will add expressive detail and realism to your compositions. Meticulously balanced volume levels across the entire library ensure seamless transitions between different articulations, maintaining a fluid and natural sound. The carefully optimized velocity crossfading provides exceptionally smooth volume changes, delivering a polished and expressive performance.
Restrained and Reverberated
The reverberation and placement presets created by Synchron Stage sound engineers combine customized impulse responses and Vienna MIR Pro 3D technology with expertly crafted reverb settings for each ensemble so they are placed perfectly on stage. You can also turn off the player’s convolution reverb and algorithmic reverb and place the dry samples in any other environment. By adding the ambience of Synchron Stage Vienna’s Stage A to the dry samples in real-time, Studio Appassionata Strings (sordino) perfectly blend with any other product of our Synchron Series, resulting in a production-ready sound “out of the box”.
NKS Integration
This Library supports Native Instruments’ NKS format and is compatible with Komplete Kontrol keyboards and Maschine. Use the Light Guide to quickly identify key switches and play ranges of your instruments, browse and preview sounds, and quickly adapt them using pre-configured control knobs.

Installation :
• Synchron Player is required for use.
• Soundbank files with the .SYVOLUME extension can be located in any directory, but for ease of use, it is recommended to place all soundbanks in a single directory divided into subdirectories (Synchron Player supports nesting).
• Soundbanks have keys with the .R2RVSLSYN extension.
- Copy the .R2RVSLSYN key files to the %ProgramData%\VSL\Vienna Synchron Player\R2R\ directory.
- Launch VSLEMU CacheBuilder (included with Synchron Player) and click OK in the window that appears.
- If you use a single directory for your soundbanks, divided into subdirectories, the soundbanks will immediately appear in the list of available ones when you launch Synchron Player. If the soundbanks are located in a new directory, click the gear icon at the top of the Synchron Player interface and add this directory by clicking the + sign, then restart the program. The soundbanks will appear in the list of available ones.
