From the Author:
MuseScore is a powerful, open-source, completely free music notation editor that runs on Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
In this course, I’ll teach you all about using MuseScore in your own projects, showing you some of my own techniques, as well as the work of others. It’s a fantastic program for teaching music in any style or simply to help you master the basics of music notation.
I’ve been working with MuseScore for several years—with major American orchestras, film studios, and video game designers—so I have more than a little experience in professional music notation. I also hold a degree in music composition and am a university professor (in music composition).
I was recently named a semifinalist for the Grammy Foundation’s Music Educator of the Year award for my in-person classes at the university. I now offer these lessons online on Udemy to reach more students and give them the joy of learning music theory. In this course, we’ll cover:
The History of MuseScore
How to Participate in the MuseScore Community
Installation and Setup
Launch Center
Creating a New Score
Assigning Playback Tools
The MuseScore Interface
Toolbars
Palettes
Inspector
3 Methods of Entering Notes
Using a MIDI Keyboard with MuseScore
