designed specifically for vocal mixing. With minimal setup, VOTT instantly works wonders
to transform any vocal content into a balanced, professional sound.
OTT , short for “Over The Top” , is a preset in Ableton’s multi-band dynamics processor
that’s known for making tracks sound bolder, more exciting, and bigger than they actually are.
Although it’s highly regarded by EDM producers, the original OTT places a lot of restrictions on vocals.
The VO-TT is an innovative step forward as it takes the OTT concept – expander,
up-compressor and down-compressor – and tunes them “just right” in five vocal-specific frequency ranges.
This design allows you to achieve perfectly balanced vocals almost immediately, without any hassle.
Whether you’re mixing tracks, performing live or just singing for fun,
the VOTE is a versatile tool that fits any scenario.
How does it work?
VOTT has five frequency ranges, each designed to target different aspects of a vocal’s sound.
In each range, a down compressor clamps down on overly loud peaks, a up compressor gently boosts
softer signals, and an expander further attenuates the quietest sounds to reduce noise.
These components work together to give your vocals a professional, frequency-balanced sound
that stands out in the mix.
