Torgeir Byrknes, better known by his stage name TeeBee, is a Norwegian DJ and drum and bass producer. He also runs the record company Subtitles Recordings. TeeBee started DJing in 1990 and released his first record in 1996. In 2001, he received the Knowledge Magazine award for Best International Producer. TeeBee’s music is characterized by strong dark and futuristic science fiction influences. TeeBee’s material can be classified as neurofunk or techstep, although it has a deeper ambient and vibe than much of that subgenre. His early work in particular owes a recognized stylistic debt to Photek, and he was initially primarily associated with the record label Certificate 18, along with Photek, Klute and Norwegian colleague Polar. After the closure of Cert 18, in order to allow the owner to release other genres of music, he formed the Subtitles label with Polar. TeeBee joined forces with Calyx to self-release their first album together, Anatomy, to critical acclaim in 2007. In 2012, the duo signed an exclusive deal with Andy C’s Ram Records, releasing All or Nothing, the multi-award-winning album that propelled them forward. to elite status in the world of electronic music. The collection is replete with loops and singles. Included are funky shuffle breaks and loops, full D&B and halftime style drum loops, percussive shuffles and roll hats, analogue-style atmospheric pads and string loops, sci-fi effects and sequencer loops, and intro-style drone loops. with wicked tones and harsh overdrives, multi-sampled bass one-shots processed with external gear to add some charm, drum one-shots and more.
