Description: Experimental electronic artist Stephen (aka Stephen Swartz) explores the deeply layered resonances brought about by social issues and personal perceptions of contemporary culture. In 2016, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist released his debut album, which received heartfelt praise from the likes of TIME, Billboard, VICE, FADER and the Independent. This marked the beginning of Stephen’s expansive vision of global and political change through his penchant for multiple genres, thematic narratives, and a deep intimacy often missing from contemporary electronic music.
After touring for the triumph of Sincerely, Stephen suddenly had to take a break from music. In 2017, he contracted Lyme disease, which set him back a year when he experienced a major life-altering crisis. Returning in early 2019 with the release of his EP It’s Too Much Love To Know My Dear, Stephen bought a one-way ticket to Thailand to reconnect with himself. For a moment he lost himself, enveloped in the beauty of the unknown, and returned with inspiration to take a different road.
Now, in 2020, Stephen is ready to shed his old skin and connect with people that music alone cannot. His future music comes from an honest yet vulnerable place and doesn’t seem to be any different from anything he’s done in the past.
This set is the result of his dedicated studio time, filled with sushi and mixed with a bit of fun.
