Description: UFO 61 is a vintage five-octave electronic organ from the Italian instrument manufacturer Viscount. Designed in the 1970s, this simple synth has a smooth, funky tone with a warm, pleasant fuzzy texture. Like many of the early portable organs and synthesizers that became widespread during the era, it has just a few basic instrumental voices, a single speaker, a simple rhythm box, and a basic selection of classic controls.
The 1970s saw an influx of dozens of exceptional and small synthesizers coming out of southern and eastern Europe, especially Italy. These pioneers of electronic musical instruments popularized synthesizers and brought this sound into the mainstream through both popular music and popular television and films.
UFO 61 was recorded by John Valasis. John is a composer, producer and sound engineer of Greek origin. From his studio in Athens, he provides voiceover, foley and sound design services to many local and international clients. John’s clientele includes prestigious brands such as Native Instruments, Ableton, Soundiron, Virgin, Amazon Prime Video, Vice Magazine and the BBC. John is also on the Ninja Tune Just Is Not Music roster, along with artists such as Amon Tobin, Bonobos, Flying Lotus and The Cinematic Orchestra.
John gained professional experience back in the 90s as a composer and producer of popular music and gradually expanded his skills in a variety of genres. With the abilities he acquired over the course of his 20-year professional career, as well as his genuine love for soulful music, he has created a strong, personal and diverse musical identity. Without working to tight deadlines, John uses Poordream as a vehicle to freely express his emotions and influences, exploring sound and composition outside of conventional electronic music.
UFO 61 was recorded in a dry studio using a pair of Neumann TLM 103 large diaphragm microphones. We recorded its presets with sustain and staccato on each key. The included octave, vibrato and FX rack give you an easy-to-use interface that allows you to fully customize and shape your fat analog sound to suit a variety of creative approaches.
The library is equipped with flexible control functions such as Swell, Pitch Glide, Attack, Release, Vibrato and Octave. There’s also a full rack of DSP effects including convolution reverb with dozens of unique spaces such as cathedrals, churches, halls, bunkers, garages, tunnels, chambers, rooms and a variety of otherworldly FX pulses to fully explore and exploit an endless variety of strange and unexpected sound manipulations .
