Description: Whoosh sounds are short transition effects that sound like a whistle. Like something flying quickly through the air. You often hear the whoosh effect used as a sound effect in movies. For example, in a fight, when someone swings a fist or weapon toward an opponent, it creates a swishing sound as they move, followed by the sound of the impact itself.
The swishing sound effect is primarily composed of white noise, like the sound of wind. This means it doesn’t actually have a pitch, at least not a noticeable one. But it does have movement, which quickly changes the tonal center and sometimes even the stereo field. Swishing sound effects are very effective before a transition point, but since these are shorter sounds, they also work great for simply introducing a new section into your music. This is especially true before a major impact or when preceding some kind of sonic impact.
Now you’ll learn, through practical examples and demonstrations, how to create your own swishing sound effects in different styles. So, let’s continue in the next video, right now!
