Description: This is not a production process video! Specifically, it’s aimed at you if you want to create beats and produce, but don’t know how the musical side of things works. This course uses examples from the EDM genre, although the techniques discussed here can be used to create any pop music. The course will use Logic Pro X on an Apple Mac, but there’s no reason you can’t replicate everything I do in any comparable DAW on any computer.
After you watch the video and hopefully get a better understanding of how harmony and melody work together, create a melody for the attached MIDI file, which consists of three chords and is two measures long.

The three chords are:
(1 Dmin) D minor, (2 Bb) Bb major, and (3 F) F major. The notes that make up these three chords are:
D minor – D, F, A
Bb major – Bb, D, F
F major – F, A, C
In measure 1, begin creating your melody using notes from D minor and Bb major.
In measure 2, create your melody using notes from F major onwards.
Please return to the “Example MIDI Track” video for instructions and tips on writing your own EDM melody! Good luck! I can’t wait to hear what you create!
