SCARBEE RICKENBACKER® BASS delivers the unmistakable sound of the Rickenbacker® 4003 in software for the first time. RICKENBACKER® BASS is the first software instrument officially endorsed by Rickenbacker®, delivering the meaty lows and crisp mids that have shaped rock and pop history. Painstakingly sampled by Thomas Scarby, distortion-perfect and the first pick-playable SCARBEE bass, the RICKENBACKER® BASS captures all the character and versatility of the original in an ultra-flexible, completely authentic KONTAKT instrument.
To create the SCARBEE RICKENBACKER® BASS, a Rickenbacker® 4003 with stainless steel Rotosound strings was recorded directly into Pro Tools using premium Mogami cables and a Metric Halo LIO-8 preamp, ensuring that every nuance of this legendary bass is reproduced in pristine quality.
Available for the first time in SCARBEE, pick articulations deliver the crisp sound that has been heard on countless rock and pop records since the 60s. By avoiding the built-in Rickenbacker® mute suppression system, palm-mute articulations have been created with the pick positioned over the bridge, providing true performance realism. Open articulations were played between the pickups, and both were recorded using the unique Rick-O-Sound stereo output for classic Rickenbacker® tone.
The unique KONTAKT effects chain adds the final component to this Rickenbacker® instrument with GUITAR RIG’s newly implemented Jump amp for maximum flexibility, as well as tape saturator, EQ and compressor from the SOLID MIX SERIES of professional studio effects.
The SCARBEE RICKENBACKER® BASS is based on the Rickenbacker® 4003 introduced in 1980 as a successor to the 4001 which has been in constant use since 1960. Already known as the “mix sitter” of the guitar wall, the 4003 has greatly improved the sound quality. The bass response of the 4001 pickup delivers the balanced tonal response it is known for. The crisp, thunderous sound of these basses has been immortalized on some of the most successful rock and pop albums in history and is now at your fingertips.
Thomas Skarby is a respected bass player whose brand of sound design has become synonymous with quality and playability. His sampled instruments have become the choice of top producers and musicians around the world.
