Action Strings contains more than 9 GB (uncompressed: >14 GB) of musical phrases of string instruments performed by FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague, digitized by Dynamedion.
The orchestra includes a High Ensemble, which consists of 22 violins, 8 violas and 6 cellos, and a Low Ensemble – 10 violas, 8 cellos and 6 double basses. Phrases range from basic rhythmic patterns to complex melodies, each recorded live in every mode, on two dynamic levels.
ACTION STRINGS allows mixing between dynamic levels using the modulation wheel, as well as simple mode switching (minor/major) by speed level. More than 150 phrases are organized into 5 themes, with additional 5 user slots available. All slots can be assigned or changed via the phrase browser, and each phrase can be played in all modes. Phrases are selected using a switch and can be played in trigger mode or synced to the first beat at a tempo set by the software. Using the KONTAKT Time Machine Pro algorithm, tempo can be adjusted in real time, allowing creative use of performance nuances such as Rallentando or Ritardando.
