Martinic Retro Pack 2 is a premium collection of virtual instruments and effects created by the Dutch developers at Martinic to recreate the authentic, “alive” analog sound of the 1960s and 1970s. The suite is designed for producers, sound engineers, and musicians who want to move away from sterile digital sound and infuse their tracks with the warmth, texture, and character of classic analog hardware.
Sound Philosophy: ACE Technology
Unlike most modern developers who rely on sampling (recording the sounds of real instruments), Martinic employs its own advanced physical modeling technology: ACE (Advanced Circuit Emulation).
The company’s engineers recreate digital models of the original units’ electrical circuits—down to the very last resistor, capacitor, and vacuum tube. This allows the plugins to behave exactly like real vintage hardware: dynamically responding to signal level changes and reproducing natural component imperfections, power supply instability, phase shifts, and unique saturation characteristics.

- Martinic Pianet T
An emulation of the iconic Hohner Pianet T electromechanical piano, originally produced in the 1970s.
Original Features: The original instrument utilized metal reeds and special silicone pads coated with a viscous silicone oil (a technology originally developed by NASA). When a key was pressed, the pad would grip the reed, pull it back, and release it, causing it to vibrate; electromagnetic pickups then captured this signal.
Sonic Character: A soft, deep, intimate, and velvety tone. It lacks the aggressive attack of a Rhodes but possesses a unique, “lazy,” rounded timbre that serves as a perfect foundation for Lo-Fi, Neo-Soul, Ambient, and indie music.
Plugin advantages: It doesn’t require gigabytes of samples and loads instantly. It also features built-in effects (chorus, delay, reverb) and offers flexible control over component wear, key noise, and the instrument’s mechanical behavior. -
Martinic Elka Panther
A detailed virtual replica of the famous Italian transistor combo organ, the Elka Panther 300 (also known as the Capri), which defined the sound of 1960s psychedelic rock and pop music.
Original features: The instrument was renowned for its flexible filtering and registration-mixing system (Flute, Strings, Oboe, Trumpet). It allowed for the simultaneous use of different timbres to create a dense sound that cut through the mix. It also featured a dedicated section for bass keys (the “Black Keys”).
Sonic character: Bold, vintage, slightly “dirty,” piercing, and incredibly charismatic. It is perfect for garage rock, synth-pop, retrowave, and cinematic music.
Plugin advantages: Includes an emulation of the original analog “Tone Decay” effect, a built-in rotary speaker (Leslie) simulation, and an extended settings panel (“under the hood”) where you can adjust the tuning of individual oscillators and circuit noise levels, as well as switch between the Panther 100 and 300 versions. -
Martinic Kee Bass
A virtual recreation of one of the first portable bass synthesizers—the Rheem Kee Bass, a monophonic instrument from the late 1960s originally designed for keyboardists filling in for bass players. Original unit features: The instrument’s circuitry was entirely solid-state, controlled by simple sliders for waveform shaping and filtering.
Sonic character: A thick, dense, focused, and rounded analog bass. It doesn’t aim for modern sub-bass territory but delivers the clean, punchy low-midrange sound characteristic of early electronic music, retro rock, and synth-pop.
Plugin advantages: The developers have expanded upon the original hardware’s capabilities. Additions include a full-range LFO for filter modulation, ADSR envelope controls, a mono/polyphonic mode switch, and precise pitch calibration.

Sonic character: A hypnotic, pulsating, organic “breathing” effect. It adds vintage movement to the track while preserving the original signal’s frequency balance.
Plugin advantages: Unlike the original, this plugin offers DAW tempo synchronization (Host Sync), stereo mode with left/right channel phase shifting (Stereo Panning), and adjustable input stage saturation. -
Martinic Lem Echo Music
An authentic recreation of the vintage Italian Lem Echo Music tape delay, which utilized an endless tape loop. Features of the original: The delay effect was achieved by physically passing the magnetic tape through with record and playback heads positioned at varying distances.
Sonic character: A warm, decaying, rich delay featuring characteristic analog pitch instability (wow and flutter), subtle chorus, and a gradual high-frequency roll-off with each successive repeat (simulating tape aging).
Plugin advantages: Models not only the tape itself but also the unit’s tube preamp, allowing it to function as a top-tier saturator. It supports independent control of the three delay heads, project tempo synchronization, and fine-tuning of the tape transport mechanism’s mechanical noise. -
Martinic Scanner Vibrato
A modulation effect that faithfully replicates the electromechanical Scanner-Vibrato unit—an integral component of iconic tonewheel organs (such as the Hammond B3).
Original unit details: Instead of electronic delay circuits, the original utilized a physical multi-stage delay line and a rotating mechanical scanner (rotor) that rapidly picked up the signal from different points along that line.
Sonic character: A unique spatial effect that balances between deep vibrato and a vintage, slightly “gritty” chorus. This sound cannot be replicated by standard digital plugins relying on LFOs.
