Description:
Modwave Native Wavetable Synthesizer is a powerful synthesizer with distinctive wavetable timbres, Kaoss Physics, and Motion Sequencing 2.0. Released in 2021, Modwave builds on the DW legacy and transforms it into a modern monster synthesizer, boasting incredibly deep wavetable oscillators, stunning filters, extremely flexible modulation, sophisticated pattern sequencing, and macro control for crafting unique, powerful, and easily customizable sounds and phrases.
About the synthesizer
What is a wavetable?
Wavetables are sets of single-cycle digital waveforms arranged in a specific order. The “position” of a wavetable determines which waveform will be played. Changing the position using an envelope, LFO, or other modulation source creates subtle or abrupt changes in timbre. Some wavetable systems switch abruptly from one waveform to another; others provide a smooth transition between them. A modulator waveform can perform either of these modes.
Modifiers:
Use over 30 modifiers to alter the character of any wavetable during loading. For example, emphasize odd or even harmonics, add weight with smooth quantization or saturation, or return to the sharp sound of classic wavetable synthesizers with the Vintage 8 and 12 options.
Morph:
13 morphing types allow you to stretch, compress, reflect, and otherwise manipulate wavetables in real time, altering their timbre and—with modulation—creating additional sound movement. Sync creates classic frequency-synced timbres using only a single oscillator. Three special morphing types—FM, AM, and Ring Mod—modulate oscillator 2 with oscillator 1, and the last two can even be applied to samples.
A/B Blend:
Using the unique A/B Blend mode, the oscillators can blend any two phase-locked wavetables—as opposed to simply layering voices—opening up the dimension of intermediate waveforms. For example, you can add richness to “subtle” waveforms or a touch of hiss to a soft timbre. You can even seamlessly transition between two different “modifier” versions of the same wavetable. A/B Blend mode can, of course, be modulated in real time.
