Description : In recent years, a large number of virtual devices working with impulses (Impulse) have been released. The idea is simple, why try to bring a mathematical model closer to real things, be it a tube amplifier or a concert hall, all the same, virtual analogues will not sound so natural, the differences in the sound of a real room and a good digital reverb are minimal, but they exist.
The human brain processes sound information in great detail, which used to help our ancestors accurately position a source of possible danger, and even a micro-mismatch can lead to subconscious discomfort. You must admit that it would be extremely unnatural if a sound were heard only in one ear, because this cannot happen in real life.

In general, instead of detailed acoustic modeling, a short pulse (ideally infinitely short) is passed, for example, through a sophisticated tube device priced at $50K per piece, and the pulse that comes out is recorded. These two pulses will clearly differ, since the processed pulse contains information about the changes that the signal underwent when passing through the device, now with the help of a mathematical operation – convolution – it is possible to apply these changes to other sounds, the effect will be almost the same as if this sophisticated analog device were actually used. Or, for example, in a concert hall with excellent reverberation, the pulse was recorded and now you can virtually arrange your instruments in, for example, the Sydney Opera House. To apply impulses to audio material, a special plugin is required, perhaps the most functional is Voxengo Pristine Space
