Description: The Doobie Brothers are an American music group that, starting in 1970, played California pop rock in the spirit of The Beach Boys. By the end of the 1970s, when their most popular records were released, led by the bestseller “What a Fool Believes” (Grammy Award for Best Song of 1979), there was no trace of rock music left in their records. The Doobie Brothers continued to release and play pop music with soul elements at concerts until their breakup in 1983. Vocalist Michael McDonald continued to record in the same style quite successfully. In 1989, the band announced their return to show business. The world hit “Long Train Running” was written by the band’s vocalist and guitarist Tom Johnston in 1973 for the album “The Captain and Me”. The song immediately hit the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 in America. In 1993, the track was re-released in a remix, and again hit the top ten hits. The original can be heard here.
