Cakewalk Company introduced CA-2A software compressor T-Type Leveling Amplifier, which supports VST, Audio Units, and SONAR X2 Producer ProChannel formats. It is reported that the legendary vintage electro-optical tube compressor was carefully modeled by the developers in order to recreate the classic sound that can be heard on many “platinum” records.
The CA-2A is suitable for any audio material, but is especially good for vocal tracks, creating a clear sound while maintaining dynamic characteristics. It also sounds great with electric and acoustic guitars, including bass instruments, as well as pianoforte, wind and other sources.
Depending on the incoming material, the simulated T4 circuit uses an electroluminescent panel to determine the exact attack time (about 10 milliseconds) and the optical photocell to determine the decay time. Amplifier lamps and optoelectronic devices are carefully modeled – the plug works exactly like the original “iron”. The CA-2A also includes the Fast Resetting Photocell Memory feature, which allows the processor to react with greater flexibility than the original compressor if necessary to work with material such as drums and slap bass.
