“Multitimbral” means you can set up a full band on one device, assigning each of 16 MIDI channels to an instrument. A conventional example:
Channel 1: Piano
Channel 2: Organ/Clavinet/MIDI guitar
Channel 3: Bass
Channel 4: Brass1
Channel 5: Brass2
Channel 6: Brass3
Drums to Channel 10, Percussion to Channel 11
This should be interesting……. people sometimes say “multitimbral” when they actually mean “polyphonic”. When (1988) I got that one-hit addiction to MIDI, I was running 4-track software on a Commodore 64. I still have the Casio CZ-101, and miss the Casio HT-700; both were true multimbral.
Anyway thanks, man, this is worth a look and listen:)
