Tweed Deluxe amps from the 1950s are the stuff legends are made of. They were used on legendary albums by so many rock ‘n’ roll stars that listing them all would be pointless, but names like Neil Young, Don Felder, and Billy Gibbons have to be at the top of the list.
This small amp is deceptively versatile, despite its simple controls and low power handling. In the studio, it becomes a beast. It has a very organic, smooth, yet detailed tone with a beautiful clean sound, bordering on overdrive and crunch. At maximum volume, it starts to sound a bit fuzzier, but it’s a beautiful sound with plenty of texture until you reach the point where it collapses in on itself.
This amp was manufactured in mid-1957, during the most coveted era of narrow-panel amps—a genuine 5E3 model with the original output transformer, signal and coupling capacitors, and the original Jensen P12R speaker. Replaced power transformers and electrolytic capacitors, as well as a retweed amplifier, make it the perfect amp for musicians, preserving all the important sonic parameters.
Included are 20 DI recordings with gain levels from clean to drive, with different EQ settings for each gain level.
