Description: Toms, Octobans, RototomsThe second in our series of epic ensembles…
If anyone doesn’t remember, Fracture Sounds’ first epic percussion ensemble was 40 cardboard boxes in the Box Factory library. Tom Factory presents a masterfully curated selection of high-octane drum ensembles. Ideal for composers writing action-packed trailers, blockbusters and more.

The instruments featured in this library offer an elegant solution for adding a cinematic feel to your percussion writing.
We’ve lined up 5 players and over 35 drums including Roto Toms, Octobans, Concert Toms, Kick Drums, recording over 80 articulations, from lead drums to a range of stunning ensemble configurations.

Tom Factory is designed as the ultimate tom cinematic library, featuring an incredibly diverse range of sounds recorded in stunning acoustic environments, masterfully mastered into 6 diverse mixes and presented in an easy-to-use Kontakt interface.

EPIC ENSEMBLES :
The most notable material in Tom Factory is definitely the ensemble articulations. Using the extensive experience of our team of composers, percussionists and engineers, we have carefully selected 40 ensemble articulations adapted for modern cinematic music.
This includes the thunderous “deep ensemble” of floor toms and drums, the powerful concert tom ensemble using a variety of performance techniques, the unique “wide tom ensemble” featuring two musicians spaced far apart, and numerous ensembles of roto toms and octobans.

Additional Information :
Concert drums are the centerpiece of Tom Factory. They differ from regular drum kit drums in that they do not have a bottom (resonant) head, resulting in a more precise and punchy tone. Traditionally used in concert band productions, concert volumes are increasingly finding their way into popular blockbusters.

We’ve put together a selection of concert toms of varying sizes and tunings (10-18 inches) in solo and ensemble configurations.
One of the newest additions to the drum family is Octobans. First coming to prominence in the world of popular music in the late 1970s, they have more recently found a place in cinematic scores.

Each Octobane has the same six-inch head, and the difference in pitch depends on body size.

Roto toms feature a tight, unshrouded driver that delivers punchy, resonant sound with a distinctive ‘pitch bend’ effect on the loudest speakers. Their timbre contrasts nicely with richer live toms and means they can be used very effectively in combination with other drums in the library.

Tom Factory includes 7 roto toms tools of varying heights, ranging in size from 6 to 14 inches.
