apulSoft apUnmask is an audio plugin designed to boost sound components that are psychoacoustically masked by other components.
To achieve this, apUnmask utilizes parts of the detection algorithm from the high-quality Opus audio codec. It extracts signal components that would typically be discarded during compression. These components are usually inaudible because they are masked—in both time and frequency—by louder elements. apUnmask allows you to boost and process these masked components and blend them back into the music.
The extracted signal passes through a linear-phase graphic equalizer to shape its frequency content. This ensures a smooth frequency response using a Bézier curve, free from overshoot.
The result is a hyper-realistic sound. This process enables the listener to perceive more aspects of the music simultaneously. apUnmask can be used as a mastering effect or as an intelligent exciter for individual instruments.
