Their professional career includes performances with iconic artists like James Brown, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan, as well as collaborations with such celebrated artists as Massive Attack, Rudimental, Chase & Status, and Fatboy Slim. This EZX includes four acoustic kits, as well as a collection of electronic drum machine, percussion, and effects sounds—all tailored for modern drum and bass production. Inspired by iconic breakbeats like the legendary “Amen Break,” it strives to capture not only the laser-like precision of modern drum and bass, but also the raw character of the recordings that helped shape it. To bridge the gap between modern and vintage sounds, the sessions utilized a combination of an SSL console and a vintage Decca tube console, with multiple microphones routed through Decca preamps for warm saturation and natural compression. To further recreate the atmosphere of classic breakbeat recordings, a dedicated channel for sound reduction was added through a blown mic.
In addition to the sounds, the package also includes a collection of grooves curated by Gangadeen and Chapman, each designed to match the kit’s vibe and maximize additional features—including a high-frequency side snare, effects, and electronic percussion. Add to this a wide range of ready-to-mix presets from Peter Chapman, and you have the perfect toolset for both modern and classic drum and bass.
