The Versatility of Brass Instruments
Although each note was played by a well-rehearsed ensemble of four musicians, each instrument was recorded with a separate microphone. As a result, you can access each instrument individually to intuitively change its sound characteristics, volume, articulation, and precision in real time while playing within an ensemble preset. Speaking of precision, the secret ingredient that makes a brass ensemble sound truly authentic is the combination of human interaction and the subtle imperfections of live performance. When playing in an ensemble, musicians listen to each other and constantly adapt, adjusting timbre, volume, intensity, and intonation. Our sophisticated “Dimension” recording technology takes this interaction into account, isolating individual instruments for maximum control. Humanize’s various presets allow you to adjust the precision of the four ensemble musicians to suit your musical requirements. The sonic results are incredibly authentic and simply breathtaking!
Expanded Articulation Set
Studio Dimension Brass I includes a vast array of articulations, offering a wealth of variation, nuance, and expressive possibilities. Unique glissandos for trombones have been recorded up to a tritone, and even up to an octave for trumpets and French horns. These can be seamlessly combined with legato. Mid-sustained notes are available in six dynamic layers and do not loop, ensuring a natural decay of the instruments. You can seamlessly transition between the various dynamic layers using the continuous controller to achieve natural and fluid transitions—from a soft timbre to a punchy, piercing brass sound and back again.
World-Class Acoustics
For the Studio Dimension Brass I, our software developers added a custom-designed convolution reverb to Synchron Player, powered by Vienna MIR Pro 3D, that captures the remarkable and unique ambience of the 540 m² (5,813 sq ft) Synchron Stage Vienna main hall. Perfectly crafted reverb and placement presets combine adjustable impulse responses with expertly selected reverb settings for each ensemble section. Adding the ambience of Synchron Stage Vienna’s Stage A to real-time dry samples, the Studio Dimension Brass I pairs seamlessly with any other Synchron series product, delivering superb, ready-to-use sound right out of the box.
