Description : A retro sound designer’s dream, featuring 251 video game sound effects in 8 and 16 bit style. All sounds were created with beloved original sources, instruments and techniques. No foley effects! Everything was designed from scratch to follow the charm of legendary games such as Final Fantasy 6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and other 90’s classics.
As said above, this collection was created to emulate the captivating, charming aesthetics of video games released in the 8 and 16 bit era. In particular, we looked for the signature sound of RPGs from the late 80’s to late 90’s such as Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 7, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy Tactics.
The collection began as a private library used in Andrew Aversa’s fantasy RPG Tangledeep, which was released on February 1st, 2018 with an unmistakable nod to the Super Nintendo aesthetic. Using authentic retro sound chips, lo-fi samples, subtractive synths and vintage processing techniques, he created a wide range of sound effects, weapons, scribbles, spells, beeps and noises.
Once Tangledeep was released, we expanded the collection to include an even wider variety of sounds – over 250 sounds in total. With these new additions, it is suitable not only for medieval fantasy games, but also for sci-fi, adventure, strategy and similar material.
