Most digital synthesizers offer easily accessible features, pristine digital quality, and finely tuned tones. “Imperfect” aims to break this trend by offering detuned swing oscillators, modulating effects and a host of other features designed to bring analog pleasure back to synth programming. The Imperfect architecture will be familiar to anyone who has used a soft synth before: 5 powerful oscillators, envelopes, filters, LFO and arpeggiator. The interesting stuff starts with 3 dedicated modulation sliders. Called “Wacky”, “Cracky” and “Shaky”, these features introduce modulated effects, rich harmonics and tuning inconsistencies. Make your pads sound authentic analog and your arpeggios move, adjusting these sliders to create all sorts of circuit bending scenarios. The modulations don’t stop there; Virtually any of the Imperfect parameters can be assigned to the constantly shifting dual X/Y pads and played live or programmed with MIDI automation.
Mix 5 different oscillators to create the foundation of your sound. Oscillators 1 and 2 can be swapped between 4 different waveforms and then layered with the sampled waveform, sub-oscillator and noise profile. Ring and frequency modulation are easily adjusted, as well as octave, offset and pulse width settings.
260 waveforms or upload your own :
Oscillator 3 can be loaded with preset waveforms from which you can choose from 260 different ones. If you’re still feeling limited, don’t worry, just upload your own WAV file to Imperfect and then use the processing options to transform it into a completely different sound.
Catch The Drift :
The Wacky, Cracky, and Shaky sliders determine the amount of analog processing that Imperfect does. “Wacky” increases the amount of 3 effects (phaser/chorus/delay) to push the tone into a drifting and delayed space. “Cracky” boosts the saturation level to introduce harmonics and muddy the signal. “Shaky” modulates the timbre from subtle detuning at low levels to full pitch modulation when played harder.
Dual X/Y modulation pads :
Not one, but two X/Y pads can be assigned to four different parameters and then automated or played live. 3 different performance modes are available to automatically change tones beyond recognition.

The center scale accurately displays the waveform you are creating, as well as the output meters of the left and right channels.
Full Synth Control :
All the features you’d expect from a plug-in synthesizer are present in the Imperfect, including a filter module, dual envelope, two low-frequency oscillators and an effects section. There is no compromise between functionality and performance in Imperfect.
Arpeggiator :
Set Imperfect to Arp mode for automatic arpeggiation up to 4 octaves. The tempo can be synchronized with your host’s BPM with different note intervals, or you can set it freely. Turn the arpeggio function on or off with the selector switch.
Global Parameters :
Imperfect has all the standard global parameters you would expect from a quality synth plugin. Set the global setting and glide timing. Select mono or poly modes for up to 16 voices.
Presets :
Imperfect includes hundreds of expertly programmed factory presets, as well as a built-in browser where you can listen to sounds before downloading. You’re sure to find the perfect starting point for your own creations, and they’re easy to save and recall.
