Voices of Vienna
The Vienna Boys’ Choir (Wiener Sangerknaben) is a living national treasure and a legendary cultural institution, with a fascinating history dating back to the Middle Ages. Today, it is a prestigious independent concert choir, renowned worldwide for its ethereal sound and diverse repertoire, encompassing everything from medieval music to contemporary works. Comprised of boys aged 9 to 14, the choir is prized for its unique timbre and purity of sound, which is also due to its rigorous training and stringent admission requirements.
History
The idea for this collection arose after creating choral recordings for the Amazon Prime fantasy series “Rings of Power,” a prequel to “The Lord of the Rings.” A key element in Bear McCreary’s music is the atmospheric use of choirs, which were recorded at Synchron Stage Vienna in 2020 and 2021. This large-scale project marked our first collaboration with the Vienna Boys’ Choir.
During the first recording session at Synchron Stage Vienna, the boys demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and professionalism, in some respects rivaling and even surpassing adult choirs. As the 20 members filled our A-stage with their magnificent voices, their joy in singing, combined with the young singers’ professional training, was evident in every note. Particularly impressive was their stamina and ability to adapt to the unique demands of the recording sessions, resulting in recordings that truly captured the magic of this extraordinary choir.
Joyful Articulation
The recordings include short notes, long notes, legato and marcato vowels AA (a) and UU (u), as well as MM (humming), and various consonants combined with short and long vowels. Mixer presets developed by our experts allow the Vienna Boys’ Choir to be easily placed in a variety of musical settings, from close-miked locations to remote venues and churches with abundant reverb.

Installation :
R2R Synchron Player is required for use.
To use, install everything from the R2R package:
Move the *.R2RVSLSYN file (Magic file) to “%PROGRAMDATA%\VSL\Vienna Synchron Player\R2R\”.
Launch VSLEMU CacheBuilder; its shortcut will appear on your desktop after installation.
From there, you can simply use the library. The *.syvolume file is the sample file. You can store it anywhere, just remember to specify the path to the library in Synchron Player.
Synchron Player can find libraries in subfolders, meaning if you have multiple libraries in a shared folder, you only need to specify the path to that folder, not to each individual library.
