All eyes are on the soloist—you. When solo string instruments take the stage, it’s always a demonstration of impeccable technique and supreme melodic expressiveness. When bow, fingers, and instrument work seamlessly together, they are capable of creating a vast variety of sounds and timbres. Studio Solo Strings deliver all this, along with world-renowned Viennese virtuoso craftsmanship, directly to your studio.

Two solo violins, one viola, two cellos, and one double bass offer a full range of solo string instruments that are versatile, easy to use, and adaptable to any acoustic environment you choose to place them in. Whether you compose classical pieces, write film scores, or explore new musical genres, these solo instruments bring melodies to life with unparalleled purity and emotion. You won’t be alone in your admiration for the vast possibilities.

Six Solo Instruments

Achieving virtuoso string playing and flawless solo performances is incredibly challenging, but with this collection and its deep sample set and clearly structured color coding in Synchron Player, it’s much easier. This solo instrument collection offers the perfect combination of ease of use, playability, and realism, achieved through professional sample editing and the use of Synchron Player’s unique features and algorithms.

Enhanced Flexibility and Authenticity

This solo instrument collection gives you quick access to a vast selection of playing techniques. One of the major improvements is the time stretching feature in Synchron Player. Now you can change the vibrato speed in real time using a MIDI controller! Real-time time stretching also lets you change the speed of tremolos, trills, portamentos, and glissandos by assigning a CC controller to the “Stretch Factor” fader in Synchron Player. You can even speed up or slow down scales during playback or automatically sync them to the host tempo.

Using new decay sampling technology in Synchron Player and adding a variety of optimized decay sounds to many articulations greatly expands their capabilities. Short notes sound authentic based on the body resonance and note volume. Long and medium notes, such as detaches, portatos, crescendos, and diminuendos, can be played shorter than the recorded length and automatically produce authentic decay sounds. For example, you can use the first part of a crescendo note as a soft portato articulation, or the first part of a diminuendo note as an espresso technique with a slight decrescendo, which sounds very musical and natural.

New “Multi-Short” Patches

Musical Repeats, including articulations from legato and portato to staccato and spiccato, have been improved thanks to our new sampling technology and new repeat and interval logic. These “Multi-Short” patches automatically provide you with notes that sound very natural in medium- and fast-speed passages, depending on the previously played note (the same note or interval) and the duration of the note played. The new “Dynamic Layer” patch, based on the original Repeat recordings, offers up to nine layers of velocity sensitivity for each articulated note, allowing you to play passages with extremely subtle dynamics, accessing individual layers of velocity sensitivity for each articulation using the modulation wheel or key velocity.

World-Class Acoustics

Reverb and placement presets created by Synchron Stage sound engineers combine custom-tuned impulse responses and Vienna MIR technology with expertly selected reverb settings for each instrument, ensuring their perfect placement in the grand hall of Synchron Stage Vienna, one of the world’s finest recording studios. You can also disable the player’s convolution and algorithmic reverb and place dry samples in any other environment. By adding the ambience of Synchron Stage Vienna’s Stage A to dry samples in real time, Studio Solo Strings pair perfectly with any other Synchron series product, delivering a ready-to-use sound right out of the box.
