The bass trumpet brings a darker, more resonant tone to the brass family, adding richness and depth to the sound. Maintaining the typical trumpet characteristics in all registers, it possesses a uniquely powerful, full, and rich timbre. Recording clean and dry on our custom-built “Silent Stage” with its dense, controlled atmosphere allows for distinctive sonic qualities that are ready to enhance your projects.

Deep, bassy timbre

The bass trumpet was developed in the 19th century and used by composers such as Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, Igor Stravinsky, and Leoš Janáček, who exploited its unique tonal qualities to great effect. In the lower register, the bass trumpet’s timbre resembles the tenor trombone, although it lacks the warmth and fullness of the trombone. Nevertheless, its rich, bassy sound remains incredibly powerful and captivating.

Versatility and Expressiveness

The library contains a full range of expressive and dynamic articulations, offering a variety of short and long notes, legato (including fast legato), crescendo and diminuendo, sfz, sffz, pfp, tongue tremolo, and trills of half and whole tones. Recording samples in relatively dry form on the Silent Stage allows you to place them anywhere in your virtual stage and stereo field, and integrate the instrument with the Synchron series using the internal convolution reverb, which recreates our own Vienna Synchron Stage.
